Mamita's
Beach Club - All Luna Blue Hotel & Garden guests enjoy free
use of the facilities at our beach club. This includes lounge chairs
& palapa umbrellas, pool, showers and restrooms.
Hungry? Mamita's has an excellent restaurant. You can
choose to eat on the spacious shaded deck overlooking the ocean or at
a table on the beach. For
the ultimate in luxurious laziness, your meal can even be brought right
to your lounge chair.
Thirsty? Mamita's has a fully stocked bar. A piña
colada, margarita, or the beverage of your choice can be delivered to
you on the beach. Or, if you wish to take a break from sunbathing, wander
up to one of the two beach bars, where bar "stools" are swings
suspended from the roof.
There are plenty of other activities to be found at
Mamita's. as well. There's a local dive shop which can arrange tours
to the coral reef, massage on a deck high above the sand, volleyball,
people watching or even napping in a four-poster sunbed set in the Caribbean
sand.

Mayan Ruins
- Throughout the area, you can find archaeological sites and ruins of
the ancient Mayan empire which once ruled the Yucatan. The temple at
Tulum sits on a cliff above the Caribbean Sea, offering vistas of unmatched
beauty. In Chichen Itza, you can explore an entire Mayan city which
has been restored to its original state. The ruined city of Coba still
sits hidden (but accessible) in the jungle. Bus tours can be arranged
to each of these sites or you can rent a car and explore at your own
pace. This is a rare opportunity to step back in time and walk the streets
of a once great civilization, now vanished forever.

Diving & Snorkeling
- The waters around Playa
del Carmen offer a divers paradise. With the world's second largest
coral reef just offshore, divers can easily make daily trips to explore
the beauty of this natural treasure. If you've never been diving before,
you can try an introductory lesson or even take a certification course
from one of the many dive shops in town. If snorkeling is your preference,
the Yal-ku lagoon in nearby Akumal offers clear water and abundant sea
life. Both divers and snorkelers will want to explore the many cenotes
(fresh water ponds) which dot the Yucatan peninsula. |
